Catching Up With Tyler Hill’s Danny Goldberg!
We recently caught up with alumni Danny Goldberg who told us his favorite camp memories and what he’s up to now! Read on…
I attended camp for eight summers as a camper and four summers as a staff member. Camp taught me that the friendships and relationships I make in life are really the most important. My best friends are my camp friends and I will truly share a special bond with them forever.
My favorite camp memories would have to be my four years as a counselor. I had the same kids for all four summers. Getting to see them grow up from cadets all the way to juniors was incredible. You form amazing relationships with your campers and they become like little brothers to you. They text me all the time even now asking for advice. It’s crazy how every summer gets better and more fun than the last. Now reminiscing really makes me realize I miss camp!
Another favorite memory I have was that time that I stayed up all night hoping that my counselor Michael Davidowitz would bring me some food from outside camp (you can ask him about it)!
Here is a little about me …
I am from Lido Beach, NY and am a senior at Syracuse University.
I’m currently working on my two businesses. One is Golden Gear MMA which sells the world’s most protective boxing equipment. My other business is Diamond MMA selling the world’s most protective athletic cup.
I am involved in several business competitions and will be representing the USA in the Global Entrepreneurs Organization Competition later this year.
While not running my businesses, my biggest passion is giving back to those less fortunate. Over this past summer, my dad passed away from urothelial cancer and since then I truly believe that giving back is my purpose in life. In less than twelve days, I raised over $23k for Camp Experience, which is a week long camp for boys and girls ages 9-16 who lost a parent or a sibling. I will be working at that camp this summer, and hope to do so every year moving forward. The camp is completely free and with the $23k in donations that I raised, I will be able to send over 48 kids to camp this summer which is just awesome!
