Earn College Credit at Camp

Make a Difference and Earn College Credit at the Same Time!

If you are passionate about building your career in Education (Early Childhood, Elementary, Secondary, etc.), Sports Management, or Outdoor Recreation we want to get to know you!

We provide our staff with two different ways to earn college credit while working at Tyler Hill Camp.

1. Earn Three College Credits While Working at Camp

Earn three transferable college credits, while making a difference as a mentor, coach, friend, teacher, leader, and hero through Gratz College (Americans only). This course is geared for rising High School Juniors and Seniors and Freshmen and Sophomores in College. For High School Students it acts as a college application builder, highlighting success with college courses. While for College Students it can tick off general elective requirements, off Campus or is a good way to bank credits for Students planning on studying abroad. What better way to earn credits than doing it while working at camp!?

Through this course staff will:

  • have a better understanding of informal education.
  • have a better understand their own role as informal educators.
  • learn how informal education in a camp setting has the potential to mitigate perceived education gaps.
  • develop their own view of informal education and how to incorporate that in their roles at camp.
  • reflect on their own learning and growth as part of the camp experience

The cost is $750 for 3 transferable credits.  Please check with your school prior to enrolling

2. Or alternatively, Create an Internship For College Credit

 To do this, you must:

  • be currently enrolled in a University, College, or Technical School.
  • contact your college advisor in advance and ask them if you can use your summer camp experience as a practicum, internship, or other course credit.
  • complete the course, practicum or internship per your college’s parameters and complete your summer employment.

Mentor Program

Our Mentor/Mentee Program is just another awesome perk of being part of our Tyler Hill family! Our incredible parent community has spearheaded this initiative as a way to support our staff in their future career endeavors. Looking to go into law? Medicine? Real estate? Want to be an entrepreneur? Interior designer? As a counselor at Tyler Hill, you have the opportunity to be partnered with a camp parent in your field of interest who can give you advice, answer your questions, and help you reach your career goals! Talk about an amazing community!!!

Travel Allowance

American and Canadian staff who live more than 350 miles away are eligible to receive up to $500 to help defer travel expenses. Returning international staff can also receive up to $500 to help defer travel expenses. Make sure you retain all receipts to submit them to our office once you arrive at camp.

Refer a Friend

We’re looking for top quality staff for next season and we’d like our returning staff to help us. For every college student that a returning staff member recruits, we pay that staff member a cash bonus of $300 at the end of the summer. The staff member that you recruit must complete the summer in order for you to earn your bonus. Please have your friends apply on-line (and make sure they tell us that you recommended them).
