Rookie Day at Tyler Hill

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

We had a fantastic day with our ‘Rookies’ last week! We had a group of prospective Tyler Hill’ers join us for a day of fun, friendship and excitement.

Rookie Day is a one day program where we invite prospective campers to participate with other prospective and current campers in a typical day at camp. Parents start the day with their children. Then, as the children go off with their counselors and new friends for a power packed day of activities, parents get a complete tour of Camp, get to meet our staff and speak with the Directors Wendy and Andy. After that, it’s time for Parents to have some fun! Enjoy local sites, engage in some of the area’s activities and have lunch in town on us! They return later in the afternoon to pick up their “camper”, who we hope will be our future Tyler Hill Camper!

We have another Rookie Day right around the corner on Saturday, July 30th – Give us a call at (570) 224-4131 to register and join us for a day full of fun!  Check out the video below from one of our Rookie Days from last summer and see what Tyler Hill is all about!

Test Drive Camp At One Of Our Rookie Days!

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

Selecting the right camp for your child is both important and impactful. Camp is, for most people, an experience that can last for six or more years (with memories that last for many decades after!)  At THC, we know that such a big decision shouldn’t be made lightly, so we’ve specifically designed our Rookie Day Program to allow your child an opportunity to “taste” the sleep away camp experience, while giving you, as parents, a close-up look at our facilities, program, supervision and philosophy.  Oh, and all the fun too :) (more…)

5 Questions for Camper…

Monday, January 24th, 2011

(Camper Sammi R. - 1st on left)

As we find ourselves surrounded by snow everywhere, THC Camper Sammi R. (1st on left) finds herself surrounded by her THC friends from our last camp reunion.  So we figured we’d stir-up some good ‘ol memories of Tyler Hill by asking 5 Questions to Camper Sammi R., who is a fourth grader and will be returning to Tyler Hill for her 2nd summer. Sammi has an older brother Noah who has been at Tyler Hill camp for a few years and Sammi’s dad was also a long-time Tyler Hill camper!

1) What is the number #1 thing you love most about camp?
The #1 thing I love most about camp is doing fun activities with my friends – especially Color War!

2) What was the funniest thing that happened to you at camp?
The funniest thing that happened to me at camp was when bunk 5 dressed up as boys and my bunk (bunk 6) pretended to be their girlfriends.

Rookie Day at Tyler Hill

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

This past Saturday was Tyler Hill’s first of two Rookie Days for summer 2010! Rookie Day is a day when potential campers (“Rookies”) and their parents come to Tyler Hill while camp is in session to experience what we’re all about. It’s kind of like a test drive for next summer – a way for parents & campers to get to know us better, while taking part in lots of awesome camp activities! After spending just 1 day with us, many of our Rookie Day families enroll for the following summer as official THC campers. (more…)

Camp is Now in Session!!!

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

The moment everyone had been waiting for… The buses rolled in to Tyler Hill Camp at 2:30pm this past Saturday! Eleven buses with the remaining east coast campers stopped in front of the dining hall. As the bus doors opened, campers streamed out with so much excitement. Their eyes scanned the cheering crowd to find those familiar faces of their camp friends and former counselors. There were hugs, smiles and laughter all around. (more…)

Don’t Forget to Pack…

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

If your house is like my house, there are piles of clothing sitting in the living room along with an assortment of sports equipment, toiletries, and other assorted camp paraphernalia all waiting to be stuffed into duffel bags crumpled up on the couch. There is still some labeling to do and a few more vital supplies to pick-up before every last bit is ready. It will really never be fully ready and I know we’ll forget an item or two, but that’s what UPS is for. Yes, it’s clearly camp time! (more…)

Pick a Flick & Pop the Popcorn!

Monday, June 14th, 2010

How excited are you for camp to begin??!!!!!! Well, we’re excited too! In honor of camp being just around the corner, we thought we’d share our favorite family friendly camp movies to get you in the mood! So pop the popcorn, dim the lights, snuggle-up with your favorite blanket and throw any one of these flicks in your DVD/VCR player (or get it online – Netflix perhaps?).  By the time the credits roll, you’ll have your bags packed and be ready to hop on the bus up to camp!   (more…)

Hi everyone, my name is Michael Davidowitz and I am the Friendship Coach for the Freshmen Boys this summer.  “Friendship Coach”….
