Bowling Reunion!

Wednesday, December 7th, 2011

They bowled strikes, spares and gutter balls in glow-in-the-dark lanes this past weekend, all in good fun for our THC campers!  Our annual Tyler Hill Camp December Bowling Parties are all about seeing our old friends and meeting new ones too!

The Syosset Bowling Alley was filled with smiles and laughter as returning campers reminisced about past summers and new campers got their first taste of true Tyler Hill spirit!

Check out these pictures - And there’ll be more fun to come at our upcoming spring reunion in New Jersey, so stay tuned!

Thankful for our THC Family!

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2011

With Turkey Day only a few days away, we are so very thankful that you and your family are a part of our THC Family.  If you think about it, family reunions at Thanksgiving are very similar to our own camp reunions!  It’s a way to come together and reconnect – to keep in touch and maintain that bond that we have with each other.  We get to see old friends and meet new ones while spending quality time over food and fun activities, catching up on the latest news since we last saw each other!

While you prep for the long weekend, don’t forget to mark you calendars for our next reunion – Saturday, December 3, 2011!  Login to your CampInTouch Account HERE, go to Forms & Documents and fill out the Bowling Reunion RSVP.  We can’t wait to see you on that special “holiday”!

From our family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!

Indian Summer 2011

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

This past weekend our Tyler Hill 10th and 11th grade campers spent the weekend at camp with us for our annual “Indian Summer” weekend.  Although rain was forecasted, the sun was shining all weekend long as we gathered with our campers to reminisce about this past summer, plan ahead for Summer 2012 and just hang out and enjoy each other’s company!

Flag football, a roaring campfire, delicious meals and being surrounded by our summer family were the centerpieces to the weekend.  It was so great to have just one more weekend together after the summer season ended.  We were thrilled to see and to be with all of our old friends — but sad (again!) to say good-bye…

Now the countdown truly begins until the summer of 2012.  Check out these photos of our awesome weekend taken by none other than one of our campers and Indian Summer participant, Jordyn!!!  Thank you Jordyn for taking such FABULOUS photos!!!

Visiting Day – Summer 2011

Tuesday, July 26th, 2011

On a scale of 1-10, our Visiting Day was a 12!  We could not have ordered better weather if we tried!

Everyone was so excited! Parents were running down the hill towards their children who were anxiously waiting!!!  Hugs and kisses were happening all over as our campers couldn’t wait to share all their wonderful camp experiences with their families.

Parents met their child’s counselors, friends and were able to see and do the things their child enjoys doing most at camp.  Some campers and their families choose to just hang-out on the lawn and talk all day while others water-skiied, swam, went boating or played tennis.  This is one of our favorite days of the summer!

Everyone was very happy with the day and especially with our top-notch staff.  Rave reviews about the day were echoed as Visiting Day came to a close and we ended the day with our traditional super-soaker water fight throughout camp…  As many campers have said over and over again to their parents “Thank you for sending me to Tyler Hill!!!  This is the best summer I’ve ever had!”

Rookie Day at Tyler Hill

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

We had a fantastic day with our ‘Rookies’ last week! We had a group of prospective Tyler Hill’ers join us for a day of fun, friendship and excitement.

Rookie Day is a one day program where we invite prospective campers to participate with other prospective and current campers in a typical day at camp. Parents start the day with their children. Then, as the children go off with their counselors and new friends for a power packed day of activities, parents get a complete tour of Camp, get to meet our staff and speak with the Directors Wendy and Andy. After that, it’s time for Parents to have some fun! Enjoy local sites, engage in some of the area’s activities and have lunch in town on us! They return later in the afternoon to pick up their “camper”, who we hope will be our future Tyler Hill Camper!

We have another Rookie Day right around the corner on Saturday, July 30th – Give us a call at (570) 224-4131 to register and join us for a day full of fun!  Check out the video below from one of our Rookie Days from last summer and see what Tyler Hill is all about!

Open House

Thursday, June 9th, 2011

What a great day it was during our Open House this past weekend! All of our new campers & parents arrived to camp for a fun-filled day full of activities for both our incoming campers and their parents! After everyone arrived, Wendy and Andy divided everyone into groups for tours led by our Head Counselors & Division Leaders. (They even got a sneak peak at some of the awesome new facilities we’re unveiling this summer like our new tennis courts!)

After the tours, everyone met back for a fantastic BBQ where we ate hamburgers, hotdogs, watermelon – You name it – We ate it!

After lunch, Andy spoke to the parents about what to expect during their camper’s first summer here at Tyler Hill and how to become a “good camp parent” while the kids are away at camp.

The day definitely got everyone excited for camp. Fun was had by all as the beaming faces exited Tyler Hill. But it’s only for a short time because we’ll be seeing everyone back here at camp in just 16 days!

Hoop Starz Reunion Was a Blast!

Wednesday, April 13th, 2011

In 73 days, Tyler Hill is going to be full of happy campers playing basketball, soccer, and all of the other awesome games and sports that THC has to offer.  In preparation for the summer, our second, third and fourth grade campers were able to get a preview of the real camp experience this past weekend at our Hoop Starz Reunion in Ramsey, New Jersey!

The campers were split up into groups and competed in different games including dodge-ball, kickball, basketball and soccer.  They were then treated to some delicious pizza and beverages, which we all know is certainly a big-time favorite among our campers!  Most importantly, the reunion got everyone very excited for the upcoming summer, which will be here before you know it! Florida Reunion

Thursday, March 3rd, 2011

Calling all Florida campers!!! Strikes Bowling Alley in Boca Raton was swarming with  Tyler Hill campers this past Sunday! Almost all 60 of our Florida Tyler Hillers left the sunshine outside and came inside to bowl and reconnect with their camp friends.

They hung out and ate pizza with friends and some of our head staff including Andy, Wendy, Bette, Robin, Dr. Scott and Margot, Eppy and Laura. Everyone was SO excited to see some of their favorite counselors who drove MANY miles to be there, including Jen Berghorn, Zach Caine, Nicole Miller, Brett Lazar, Amy Challis and Alyssa Paris.  Plus, they even got to meet some new additions to the 2011 THC staff, including Rachel Blum and Brandon Friedman.

With just 113 days to go until camp begins, all of our Florida campers would get on the plane TODAY if they could!

As we find ourselves surrounded by snow everywhere, THC Camper Sammi R. (1st on left) finds herself surrounded by her THC friends from our last camp reunion.  So we figured we’d stir-up some good ‘ol memories of Tyler Hill by asking 5 Questions to Camper Sammi R., who is a fourth grader and will be returning to Tyler Hill for her 2nd summer.
