Camp is Now in Session!!!

The moment everyone had been waiting for… The buses rolled in to Tyler Hill Camp at 2:30pm this past Saturday! Eleven buses with the remaining east coast campers stopped in front of the dining hall. As the bus doors opened, campers streamed out with so much excitement. Their eyes scanned the cheering crowd to find those familiar faces of their camp friends and former counselors. There were hugs, smiles and laughter all around.

But let us not forget that while returning campers and counselors were having a blast with their old buddies, the newbies were right there in the thick of things too. Around here, everyone is included and having fun. Those new to camp are already surrounded by friends – friends they will have for a lifetime.

Then off we were the the 1st full day of camp! Activities included roller-blading, arts and crafts, swimming, the annual sports fair, and everything in between! Campers and counselors alike love the new options in the dining hall such as fresh & cut-up fruit at breakfast every morning and the new and improved salad and sandwich bars. After dinner, campers enjoyed their routine visit to the canteen where they mingled and received an after dinner treat.

After canteen, Opening Ceremonies were held – It was a beautiful night! Everyone gathered outside on the Boys’ Campus overlooking Silver Lake. As the ceremonies began, Andy introduced all the first year campers to the sitting crowd of campers and counselors who jumped to their feet to cheer on and officially welcome the first-time “Tyler Hill’ers”! The head staff wore costumes and sang cheers. Andy also acknowledged the campers who are attending Tyler Hill for their fifth through tenth years! If the Opening Ceremonies are any indication of how fun this summer will be, we’re in for a rockin’ time!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh yes… Camp is well underway for another AMAZING summer at Tyler Hill!!!
